The summer is almost here and just about the worst thing you can do is…
Stop Marketing Your Business!!!!
It is SO easy to slip away into a hammock somewhere and think that the business will not suffer because of it.
To be clear, I am not suggesting that you shouldn’t be taking time whenever possible to relax and recharge.
I do it quite often myself.
The trick is to not forsake one calendar for another and make them work together.
Huh?
What I mean is that your marketing calendar should be set up strategically…
With your personal calendar taken fully into consideration so the two can work harmoniously together.
For example, if you’re planning to go on a family vacation, try sending out a direct mail piece that will have new prospects calling you the moment you get back home.
Even if it is a part of a larger direct mail campaign or drip sequence, be strategic about it.
So many people fall into the trap of trying to wrap everything up in their office before they go on vacation.
Almost as if they were going to close the doors for good and had to take care of every last detail before they did.
WRONG!
You obviously don’t want to put your clients on hold while you’re gone if there are time-sensitive activities that need to be done.
But you should also be structuring your marketing to work while you’re not.
Think about it.
When’s the last time you sent out a bunch of sales letters or postcards and had people instantly calling you?
Not a chance!
Just like any type of marketing campaign, it takes time.
It takes time to send through the mail and be delivered.
Plus people usually don’t respond the very second they read your mail (although that would be nice).
Working to send something out just before you leave to sip Mia Tia’s on the beach can also help you relax even more while you’re away.
It’s truly a comforting feeling to know that the business is not at a standstill while you’re gone AND that you don’t have to feel guilty or worried about where your next client is going to come from when you get back.
Think it’s any different for those of you that are using emails to market your business?
Nope. Not at all!
You, my techie friends, can go even a step further by scheduling your emails to go out while you’re away.
Either way, now is no time to sluff off with your marketing.
Yes, it’s sunny outside (for most of you).
But, you’ll enjoy your free time much more when you’ve got a plan in place that melds your personal calendar with your marketing calendar.
I know this for a fact!
Not only do I implement the same strategies, both digital and direct mail, in my firm, but we also do it for so many of our clients throughout the year.
In fact, some of our clients haven’t written or developed their own marketing materials in years!
They love having the DMC team at the ready to write, design, develop, implement, or send out their pieces while they are sitting back and taking care of new sales or providing service for previous sales.
They trust us with marketing their business because that’s what we do.
And quite frankly… we’re pretty awesome at it!
Long story, short:
As the summer approaches, stop and think for a minute if you’re setting yourself up for a vacation that you can actually relax on, or if you are just setting yourself up to be worried and tied to your computer or phone the whole time.
We’re always here if you need or want our help in any way possible.
And if you want to talk to us about how we can help you have an amazing vacation this year and come back to a pool of prospects (all while you’re out taking a dip in the literal pool), click the button below and schedule a strategy call today.
I promise it will be painless and furthermore, it’s absolutely FREE!
It won’t take long for you to realize why our clients love having us on their side to help with all their marketing needs.
You’ll also figure out pretty quickly, if you haven’t already, that we’re no one-trick-pony.
We’re helping businesses of all shapes and sizes do all kinds of amazing things, all in the name of increasing profits.
We’ve got the team, the knowledge, and the skills to do just about anything you can think of…
And probably a couple of things you haven’t thought of.
I look forward to this summer being really awesome for DMC and hope to hear from you soon so yours can be mega-great too!
Here’s to your success!
